Our staff have extensive experience in camp, after school programs, youth development, risk management and other social service areas. When you stop in, you’ll see that camp is running smoothly and your camper is getting a safe, high quality camp experience.
Camp Fire Heartland day camp staff are carefully selected, young, caring adults with an enthusiasm for camp and youth development. Through a thorough interview process, reference checks and background checks, we make sure to select the highest quality staff for your child’s camp experience. Many of our camp counselors are future teachers, nurses, doctors and nonprofit professionals.
We take great pride in having the best camp staff around!
Health & Safety
Safety is our top priority at camp. Staff trained in First Aid and CPR procedures are on property with campers at all times. All staff are trained in risk identification and management protocol. In addition, our camp health supervisor is First Aid and CPR Certified. The camp director holds and dispenses all medications while campers are in our care.
Camp Fire day camp is located on the same property as the Kansas City Mounted Police headquarters. We have a great relationship with the mounted police officers, and they are close and convenient if an emergency were ever to occur.

American Camp Association (ACA) Accreditation
Camp Fire Heartland is a member of the American Camp Association and has achieved accreditation status for our Youth Day Camp by completing a voluntary peer-review process of standards applicable to our program. The ACA is the only nationwide organization that accredits all types of organized camps.
