Full Time Site Director- MO Out of School Programs

This position is managed by Camp Fire Heartland and located within Citizens of the World Charter School. The director will oversee both 1) afterschool programming every day until 6:00 pm and 2) recess during the school day.
The Site Manager is responsible implementing a safe and healthy recess program though systems, cultures, and games. The manager will also be responsible for supervising and interacting with youth in the afterschool program, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations. The Site Director supervises all program specialists and works with the Director of Programs to implement the agency’s Thrive{ology} curriculum as well as developmentally appropriate afterschool activities for youth.
Position Responsibilities:
Afterschool Program Management:
- Responsible for the afterschool program at assigned site, including staffing, enrollment, quality, safety, and compliance
- Ensure all child care licensing requirements are met
- Help implement the development of academic and social/emotional learning lessons and programming
- Keep staff informed of program policies and performance expectations through communication means such as staff meetings, individual supervisory meetings, and written documents
- Use national Camp Fire data evaluation tools to measure and track program impact (outputs and outcomes) on participants, families, volunteers, and partner organizations
- Monitor the program for compliance with grant requirements
- Implement programs in alignment with school initiatives and grant objectives
- Maintain Licensing requirements
- Maintain regular communication with the school to access needed attendance and behavior information
- Attend regular staff meetings with both Citizens of the World Charter School and Camp Fire Heartland
- Offer students opportunities for academic enrichment and a broad array of additional activities designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program
- Offer families opportunities to meaningfully engage in their children’s education
- Ensure all required reports are submitted accurately and within the required time frame.
- Work directly with partner organizations, agencies, and schools to deliver streamlined programming.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Recess Management:
- Attend all required in-person trainings and complete all required online coursework for certification Recess Setup
- Create a safe recess environment by implementing effective equipment distribution system & ensure boundaries are visible and proactively focusing your movement to where adult support is needed
- Engage other adults on the playground to participate in safe & healthy play
- Have an effective plan for inclement weather Recess Culture
- Model & promote positive language (verbal/nonverbal), safety, inclusivity, & respect
- Use de-escalation techniques and promote conflict resolution tools
- Support students who may be less comfortable participating
- Set end-of-recess routines that prep students to return to class, ready to learn Recess Games
- Actively organize, lead, & play age-appropriate games with students
- Ensure variety in recess games (team games, rotational games, & individual play) and (low, moderate, & vigorous physical activity)
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Leadership skills and at least 2 years of experience managing staff
- Demonstrated experience working with children and families, preferably K-8th grades
- Experience in lesson planning and coordination of enrichment programming
- Innovative thinker that plans/delivers creative, problem-based enrichment content in the areas of Art, Reading, Math, Nutrition/Health, Social/Emotional Learning, among others
- Excellent organizational skills and record keeping
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and through writing/email
- Technology-efficient; Experienced with social media and Microsoft suite applications and/or able to learn new technologies quickly
- Collaborates well with others, is personable, and a team player
- Commitment to diversity
- Completes required tasks efficiently and timely
- Be able to be certified by the MO Department of Health and Human Services to supervise 100+ children
- Pass extensive background check
